We don't offer
services.
We build systems.
HEvolve Foundation — Evolving Men's Advocacy for Mental Health Foundation — was founded in 2022 with a clear-eyed diagnosis: Nigeria has no coordinated system for men's mental health. Not a gap. A void.
We exist to fill it. Through a network of programs, digital tools, community spaces, and policy advocacy, HEvolve Foundation is building the infrastructure that keeps Nigerian men alive, connected, and productive.
To build sustainable systems that keep Nigerian men alive, connected, and productive.
A Nigeria where no man dies in silence and mental health is a shared responsibility.
Seven principles.
One purpose.
The first letter of each value spells HEVOLVE — our values aren't decorative, they're the name we live by.
Humanity
Every man is worth fighting for. Our work is rooted in the belief that no life is expendable and no struggle is too small to address.
Empathy
We meet men where they are. Not where we think they should be.
Versatility
The needs of men don't fit a single mold. Our approach is flexible, culturally grounded, and responsive to lived realities.
Objectivity
Our decisions are driven by data, research, and outcomes — not assumptions about what men need.
Love
Community is built on genuine care. We create spaces where men feel valued — not as cases to manage, but as people worth loving.
Valiant
Courage is the foundation of everything we do — the courage to speak, to seek help, and to show up for one another.
Ethical Value
Our programs are grounded in evidence, guided by professional standards, and accountable to the communities we serve.
He didn't set out
to start a movement.
He set out to find one — and discovered it didn't exist.
Working at the Design Education Wellness (DEW) Centre in Lagos, he watched male colleagues open up about struggles they had never voiced before. Depression. Pressure. Silence. And as he looked around at the mental health landscape, he realized: while many organizations were doing powerful work for women, almost no one was building systems specifically for men.
In 2022, he founded HEvolve Foundation to change that.
A 2024 Mandela Washington Fellow, Riliwan has since led HEvolve Foundation to serve over 3,000 men, prevent multiple mental health crises, host Nigeria's largest International Men's Day convening, and publish Becoming Him — a book on the journey to manhood.
"It's about changing the narrative of what a man should be. We want to show that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness."
— Riliwan O. Amoo, Founder & Executive Director
A simple but
powerful belief.
If men have access to the right support at the right time, in the right cultural context, they will seek help, heal, and thrive. That belief is translated into a five-pillar ecosystem.
Prevention
Start early. Stop crisis before it starts.
Intervention
Confidential, stigma-free support when men need it most.
Community
Safe spaces where men connect, heal, and grow together.
Advocacy
Shift culture. Elevate the national agenda on men's mental health.
Policy
Use data to inform national strategy and government partnerships.
Without systems, men fall through the cracks repeatedly. HEvolve Foundation closes those cracks — one program, one community, one conversation at a time.
